FishingThe Spean is a spate river, reducing to a low flow in summer, but becoming a raging torrent after winter storms and the spring snow melt.
The lower reaches of the River Spean are widely held to be amongst the most picturesque and productive fishing venues in Scotland. The river runs alongside the Road to the Isles, and emerges via the Caledonian Canal into Loch Linnhe. Laws relating to fishing in Scotland are ancient, particularly those made to regulate fishing for salmon. If you intend to fish for salmon or trout, you must comply with the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 2003 and any other relevant law applying to fishing in Scotland. As the riparian owners we are able to offer you the right to fish for salmon and with it the inferior right to fish for trout. Access to your Fishing Fishing is available to you on the River Spean, approximately 4 miles east of Roy Bridge. Full details are provided to Club Members.
Have your Lochaber Highland Estates membership card with you at all times when fishing to show to the water bailiff. The right to fish is not transferable and only you may fish. You will no longer have the right to fish, once your membership has expired, unless you renew it. You are also welcome to picnic by the river.
